....you bid on the truck, hop in your car & once you win the auction, head over to his house with cash. If the truck is as expected...you pay him. If the truck is not as expected...you leave with your money.
When you have a conversation with someone through Ebay, the whole conversation is viewable by Ebay in your messages sent & received. If the guy offered to let you off the hook if you're not satisfied...then the contract leaves you no legal obligation to buy the truck.
It's pretty straight forward.
There's no way to get screwed here unless you do something dumb.
