I have used Paypal to buy some things with no problems. Reading of other's problems will teach you fast if you are a buyer or a seller.
One scam goes like this: You sell an item for $1000 and the buyer PPs half and wants to pick it up in person with the other half in cash. You get the $500 cash and he cancels the PP $500 and you are screwed as you have no shipping address as he came to get it.
Another one: Seller ships to an address near you on purpose and it gets returned undelivered. You protest but he wins as the record only shows the zip code it shipped to. He sells it again and you lose.
I read a bunch of these right after I signed up so I felt "really smart" for joining PP. I am sure the scams are rare but it is good to read up on them as Paul says.
