Het Dave, how's it going. I like reading your posts, your always looking at the practical side of things. Without saying just how darned old I am I'll say I used to do the very thing for myself and for others in an autoparts house machine shop.
After you determine the overall piston to cyl. wall fit the main concerns if you procede are first to ream the top of the cyl walls so your new rings dont hit the ledge left from previous wear, hone the bore and somone already mentioned cleaning the ring grooves on the pistons. The next major improvment to be done if necessary/desirable is to knurl the pistons to fit cyl's. All this depends on general state of pistons and rods. I know you will put new brgs etc so no need to mention it, check the condition or just replace the oil pump and the thing will probably outlive us both. Chris
