You may want to open it and do some cleaning/oiling/greasing if nothing else. The arch of the rod is on the top side. Spring should be between 19-1/4 to 20-1/2 in length when rested (taken out), but you're probably familiar with all this. It is one fun gun to shoot! If you have'nt unlocked the trigger assembly, you may want to do that and leave it that way until you intend to shoot it. My understanding is it will stretch the stock if left in place
