It was definitely a back-woods rig. I think I saw it up at the old Interstate mine. I figured somebody was using it to salvage/steal stuff from the abandoned mill before the EPA demolished it. I think it had some sort of A-frame on it.
I don't know that splashing oneself while filling the tank would be too likely, but if he rolled the rig down the mountainside with a tank full of gas over his head, things would surely come to a bad end.
That bass-ackwards front wheel was a real puzzle, though. All I would think that would accomplish is make it easier to break something, harder to steer, and more likely to get caught on trees and rocks. I should probably ask around up there and see if that truck's still around. It might be dirt cheap and at least be good for some parts.
