I think it would be a great idea if you're looking at a show truck/hotrod. To me nothing spells performance like "H E M I" as I'm an old 392 fan. That said I do not think it would be a good idea for a trail truck unless it was built like a rock crawler or something similar. I believe you'd wind up spending most of your time repairing it. Just too much torque and horsepower for the rest of the vintage power train to say nothing of the frame and suspension. I always wanted to transplant a V8 into a Jeep and years ago I pulled a 225 Buick V6 out of my Jeepster Commando and shoehorned a 350 Buick in there. Man what a difference and I loved it! But the axles, differentials and U joints were constantly needing to be replaced. Sure would sing on the highway though!
