The shifter is hollow and full of soft rubbery stuff , technical name is sticky gunk . You need to use a pry bar under the bottom of the shifter and wiggle it back and forth while prying upwards . Eventually it will pop off and hit you in the chin . You can then sue chrysler because there is no warning on the shifter that states that this could happen . If you can then develope a syndrome that cause you to be afraid of shifters an extra 20 or 30 million should be part of the settlement.
