I had an old AVS that whistled; the main body was worn where the primary shaft entered the carb, next to the linkage and return spring; or
The Thermoquad has a flat piece of metal that hangs vertically in the bores, perhaps a harmonic is occurring at speed. Check and see if the metal piece is loose or bent...
