I don't think I said the spark advance was on the left side, though. Maybe he used throttle as "cruise control". At this point, you might even convince me it wasn't a Model A. What I do remember was him pointing out that it had a manual spark advance on the steering column, and I remember looking at the linkage that made it work. At the time, I was probably more concerned with making a good impression the driver. He was hard to make a good impression on, too. He was a tax collector for the IRS, of the sort that goes and knocks on the doors of people who haven't paid, and he had a rather jaded view of humanity. It was a fun car, though.
