I don't doubt the pipe could rupture. But, assuming it was an 80 gal. tank (pretty common size), I would think the guy would be laying on the floor, overcome by the fumes, before enough fumes were sucked into that tank to even allow an explosion. And, what would cause it all to ignite so the explosion could occur?
