Sometimes I run across an old Popular Mechanics or Mechanics Illustrated from those days, and there are always some ads from the big surplus dealers with amazing deals on things like that. I even have an old Mad magazine that has a parody of those surplus ads. Sure wish I could just fill in the order blank, mail it in with a money order attached and get my winches, motors, generators, welders, binoculars, and trucks at 1960s surplus prices.
