I remember living in Los Angeles, CA at the time. We were moving that day. The first thing unloaded from the van was the radio. We all sat around listening to the radio broadcast as the movers moved us in. I was ten years old at the time. In Feb 1942 my Dad signed up as a Navy Flight Surgeon. He finished out the war in the Japanese occupation.
