Steering wheel removal

Ok, I need some help. I know the steering wheel is held in place on the steering column by using a small key on the shaft, which will require the use of a puller, but here is my dilema. My puller doesn't fit so is there another way to pull the wheel off or am I going to have to find the proper puller for the job.
