Doc, there was a thin cardboard gasket between the light base and the body when I did mine. I had to cut new ones out of some thin gasket stock I had on hand in the shop. when I took mine off it was the first time they had been off the truck. the gasket just crumbled in my hand. I would suppose that a very thin rubber gasket would work better and be more durable in the long run. Dave.
