Depends on how thick the metal is 0 to 000 on tip. If you get warpage, you can pound to shrink or heat/water to shrink. You generally get warpage when you leave no gap for heated metal to expand, that's why I use 1/32 to 1/16 gap and tack weld every inch before welding. Weld an inch, then move to opposite side, weld an inch. Alternating helps minimize warpage. Weld awhile then stop and let things cool before welding again.
