I owned one V8 WC54 and there is plenty of room for the steering box. I have seen baby hemis, chevy small blocks, polys and LAs and they all fit with stock steering box. you have to run center dump exhaust manifolds. none that I noticed were offset in frame at all. Like Paul said he had 1/2 and inch and no offset. 1/2 an inch is plenty
