If you have a tire shop near you, I would have them do it. They do it with a machine that actually slices into the rubber at a pre-set depth. The slices are made with a very thin blade, so you don't really lose any rubber. You have to look very closely to see the siping. It almost creates a suction effect, more than a cross the tread groove. JH
