I had a 47 ff wrecker that I bought from a dodge dealer(in about 1971) in la grange Tex. And I bought a set of dual wheels from a guy that worked in oil fields and had to turn down the drums a hair to get the wheels to go on. I drove the truck for about a year and then sold it(stupid). Never really loaded it up, but it seemed to handle fine. My question to those in the know is, is this a plausible scenario to carry a heavier load and how much. Also does turning down the drums outside diameter a hair weaken them.
