I have noticed differences in clearances depending on the years. bottom line on flatheads though is they will function in that range of specs we both provided well. the valve train does not shrink and expand as much as overhead valve engines do. (less parts to heat up)
I set mine at .010 and .012 cold (over 60 degree Fahrenheit outside temp)
