I've been offered a strange beast that as near as I can tell is a gas-powered sinking hammer or pavement breaker. It has a wide chisel bit in it. The cylinder has fins on it, it has no air hose connection. It has a very large electrical cable but only a small plug on the end. It has what appears to be a spark plug on the side of it, though it's not like any modern one, and has a rectangular cast aluminum box with an air screen on one part and a big thumb screw that leaks a runny brownish liquid that might be prehistoric gasoline when I turn it on its side.
There's no nameplate, but "BARCO" is cast into the aluminum box/tank. A lot of things about it are reminiscent of the one-lunger gas motors, except it's aluminum instead of cast iron and there's no flywheel. It also reminds me of a gas powered pogo stick (circa 1950) that I once saw demonstrated.
I'll probably add it to the museum of obsolete technology, but "restoring" it will have to be a project for some other guy. Anybody here ever seen such a machine?
