I have been trailering old trux for about 20 years without major incident, but I never try to go at posted maximum speeds and also try to anticipate moves well in advance. My ex-wife's nephew borrowed my tandem axel trailer and promptly launched it across all four lanes of I-80, luckily without hitting anyone else. He was using a 2" ball on a 2 5/16" hitch! Another kid borrowed this same trailer and promptly turned it over on I-80 again, because it fishtailed on him. In both cases, they took the trailer without my knowing it, or I could have helped them to do the job right. Under no circumstances will I ever loan my trailer to anyone else ever again. Experience is a harsh teacher to the foolish. You should be able to trailer your truck, but be aware of the risks. Towing more weight than the tow vehicle weighs is asking for trouble. Proper placement of the weight on the trailer is extremely important. Properly securing the vehicle to the trailer is critical. I sure hope that you do your homework before loading up and rolling. Enough of my sermon, but I do feel strongly about this subject. Thanks for listening.
