They probably even did this from the factory too.
Drain it, pull all the new studs (even the ones not cuttently leaking) dry the area off, clean, seal with a GOOD thread sealer, put them back in and wait 48 -72 hours before putting any water back in it. When you run it for the first few times leave the radiator cap loose (so the water jacket isn't pressurised) and maybe a small can of leak sealer in the radiator too.
I wouldn't try welding it. The only thing that works would be gas brazing and even then it's just a physical repair because of the nature of the iron casting.
