My gun dealer has not only overpaid old folks for their guns, particularly widows, but he had a widow bring in a Springfield Trapdoor Officers Model, absolutely authentic and mint.
She wanted a couple hundred for it. He told her (at that time a decade ago) that it was worth at least $15,000 and that since he was just starting his shop he could not afford to buy it, and called a monied collector who paid full value for it from her.
That's why he gets my faithful business.
