someone used to make a spacer to make up for the difference in the thickness of the gear sets, I don't know if it is still being made though. I used to drag race some a few years back and we would set the carrier up in a crankshaft polisher and polish the ends where the bearing goes till the bearing would slip on and off. you have to be VERY careful to not take too much off. I have used one in my plymouth now for the last 20 years with no ill effects. makes the changes way easier!! Dave.
