I have noted a similar situation with new cars. My wife's (newer) car has a tire pressure monitor system and a light on the dash to tell you one is low. Well, the light started to stay on. I checked the pressures and they were o.k. Resetting did not help.
The auto mechanic told me that each tire has a monitor, and there is a central unit they are tied into. He further went on to say that this model does not have a good diagnostic format, so you have to search each one out, then pay for new component(s), which can get very expensive.
I decided to let the darn light stay on and check the pressure regularly, the way we used to do it. Progress? I think not.
