60's/70's vehicles used a suppressor on the regulator. Since the jeep didn't have a factory installed radio, it needs a suppressor at the regulator. If you have an ignition point condensor not being used, mount it on one of the regulator mounting screws and if there is a cover screw, mount the condensor wire to it. If not, screw the mounting screw through the condensor mount and wire connector and re-tighten.
