I agree the vet needs to do it. You have to find a vein to put the needle in. Its not a stick it and go to sleep. He stayed for a few minutes checking for pulse and stuff. Sometimes they go to sleep but dont give up the ghost so its wise to have a vet there to make sure the dog is in fact gone.
We had to put our 12 yr old Black Lab to sleep 2 months ago. The Vet came to the house. It cost a little bit more but I felt it was worth it. It was the longest day of my life waiting for him to show up. Very tough tough day.
