You need to check more locations on the frame, as the number has been found in rare cases at the front of the frame, or further back than normal.

Since you say it is a 230ci truck the number should be on the drivers side, so clean that side of the frame from the cab forward.

I have had to really clean more than one frame to get the number to show up.
