Hello, Perry mine run through the middle of the tube. There are metal lines for fuel and brakes mounted at fixed positions on the front and back half, that connect to a rubber fuel line and a coated rubber brake line similar to the ones that drop down to the front wheels that run through tube. It appears to have always been that way, and has never been a problem. It allows for a little extra flex on each end if you should need it when the frame swivels. The wires run through it as well.
