Ron, to help fill the old seal groove, and to make the Speedi Sleeve install and seal better to the damaged shaft, I do the following:
1) Coat the damaged shaft with an Anaerobic sealer before pressing the Speedi Sleeve on. This helps fill the groove and even out the surface. Anaerobic sealers only solidify in the absence of oxygen, so they are made for extremely tight places.
2) Heat the Speedi Sleeve by setting it on a lit light bulb for several minutes. This will expand it slightly.
3) Place the shaft/yoke/flange, or whatever you are repairing in the deep freeze for an hour or so to shrink it before pressing on the sleeve.
Hope this helps.
