engines last forever on propane. you lose anywhere from 10 to 25 % of your power. so bigger cam shafts and higher compression pistons and shaving the cylinder head will get you back the power loss. propane is much much higher in octane rating than gasoline but has lower BTUs. so raising the compression and bigger cam makes the difference. the conversions are inexpensive also. Impco in the US makes the best stuff. Or you might find an old forklift with Chrysler industrial flathead 6 with propane you can get parts from. they are all over the US still working daily.
