I don't know what is in genuine tire lube. Last batch I had smelled like fire-fighting foam, which was supposedly made from sheep's blood extracts. Perhaps it is non-hygroscopic?
In the tune up shop, we used carb cleaner spray to lube things like hoses. Seems the solvent brought the inherent oils to the surface.
I wonder if kerosene would be a good tire lube? It would lube in it's own right, and then go away totally. Neither attracting water, nor gluing the tire one.
But I like talc. I use cheap foot powder. It will also protect from tire fungus between the heel and toes of the brake shoes. ;)
