That tach could be mounted several ways, bulkhead, steering colunm with the bracket pictured, or in a cup. The one in my truck is mounted in a cup.
I had mine rebuilt by Tachman Gary. He put his new electronics in the old transmitter box. Being nosy, I opened up the transmitter box to see what he did. I could not tell you the names of the gizmos he put together, but it was compact enough that I took it out and fitted it into the back of the cup and eliminated the transmitter box entirely.
