If I had a supply of cheap alky-hol, I'd first just try running it in the 230 directly. It may do just fine. Henry Ford's old low-compression flatheads did. On the other hand to really take advantage of the high octane of alky, you'd want to raise the compression considerably, and I'm not sure an old flathead is the best place to start for that. Maybe a Kettering engine that's already set up for high compression would be a better block to start with.
