If you were a kid with a old truck to drive around the fields before you got your drivers license.....who cares, just run the truck.
I am sure, you like myself want dependable Iron. We dont know what the future is going to demand on our trucks. Its my opinion that there is only one way to make repairs on the Old Iron, when it fails, rebuild to like new.
Your doing well ! Think of it as a challenge, learning new skills. Especially on 3rd members. Catastrophic failure can be very expensive. You caught serious problems in time. None of the shrapnel tried to go thru the gears.
