Fuel pressure question

I have been working on a few fuel flow issues while resurecting my 1/2 ton carryall. My last problem has been with fuel overflow out of the carborator bowl. How much pressure does the fuel pump put out?? does the float on the pin actually control the flow??? Robert N.
