Instead, make an adaptor of some kind that you can bolt to the bed and then bolt the fenders to this. That way, you are not altering either the bed or the fenders, two parts that may be nice to keep unhacked in case you find the correct parts later.
I have seen this done by making a sheetmetal "L" shaped angle that is bent to match the inner fender radius. Experiment some and you will arrive at a solution that no one will notice unless they look at it from the underside.
