You can find a later model bell housing to bolt right up to the 318. I bought one off ebay a while back, a dodge nv4500 bell housing which uses a hydraulic throw out bearing. You may want to source an early GM tranny with the lower first gear as they all interchange.
Depending on the NV4500 you have or use the output housings can be changed and if necessary also to the correct spline output shaft (32?). This allows it to bolt up to an NP205 which is similar to your NP201. I am not sure about the NP201 you may need to upgrade to a NP205 which are easy to find and cheap.
Do a google for the nv4500 and read up on the Quad4x4 and DrivetrainDirect web pages. Be aware these trannies are no longer in production and parts are getting harder to locate.
