Paul - I wished more people could see what you and I have seen. I hate the fact that there are fatality accidents, and would wish for no more, but the fact is - they happen.
When you arrive at a scene and there's just a totally mangled vehicle and there’s folks standing around with some bumps and bruises, you know they were wearing seatbelts.
When you see a young kid being loaded into a body bag because he hit a fence post at 30mph but went into the steering wheel, crushing his ribs into his lungs and internal organs – you know he was probably one of those kids telling people, “I had an uncle once who was thrown out of a vehicle and if he’d have been wearing a seatbelt he’d have been killed!” (heard that story a million times...) or the ever popular - “The government can’t tell me to wear a seatbelt (helmet) if I don’t want to!”
In 16 years of law enforcement – I never unbuckled a dead man.
WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS!
