I should have picked up the external coil from the later GM HEI system. I think my Mopar electronic dist would push one.
I don't know much about KVAs, except their existence. But I know for sure that a bigger, hotter spark will fire the mix better when it is borderline too rich or too lean. It just lights off more molecules of mix.
While I have seen engine run well on a barely visible orange spark, a later model electronic system WILL make my welder look weak.
