Your problem is pits or scratches. You can wrap course emery cloth around the hone to take out the pits/scratches. Wrap in direction hone rotates, then rehone using the hone grit. Use warm water and liquid soap for dishes to wash cylinders to remove grit. You can buy new cylinders/MC for about $160 (M37)
