Back in 1973, I bought a Henry L Hanson, Tap and Die set. As many know, Hanson tools were top quality, American Made. They came with a "Unconditional" guarantee. Since 1973, I have broken some taps and replaced them myself. Recently the V Block Jaws in the tap wrench have finally worn to a point where a tap will slip under load.
I have searched for the Henry L Hanson Company in Worchester, Ma. They no longer exist and have been bought by Irwin Tools. I called Irwin Tools and spoke with a nice lady in Customer Service. Irwin bought the Henry L Hanson Tool Company many years ago, she said. I explained the worn jaws, she understood exactly what I was talking about. Her reply............All Henry L Hanson tools are STILL unconditionally guaranteed. The nice lady took my shipping info and is shipping a complete new tap wrench as the model I have is no longer made nor are parts. No hard questions, no run around. no hassle, she did not even want the old tap wrench.
What can I say.........Buy top quality American Tools !
