I have each and every Power-Wagon specific parts lists 1945-1968. Unfortunately, none go into the visual or narrative detail we would like to see on wheels. None have the answers.
I do not have any 2wd Dodge truck parts lists, or any wheel manufacture catalogs, but none of those would directly or specifically pertain to Power-Wagons anyway. Of the vendor parts lists I do have (Electric Auto-Lite and Carter CARbureTER), all disagree with the Dodge Truck parts lists to some extent. There are a LOT of mistakes in the manuals. Speculation is a valuable tool we use to help us sort out the errors and omissions and to arrive at facts.
For anyone to say that T-roy's truck was not delivered from the factory with the 2-piece lock rings would be speculation in its purest form.
It is possible that three original owners of three different '48 B1PW model Power-Wagons, in three different parts of the country, all independently decided to swap out the standard lock rings on their trucks for 2-piece lock rings, all at or about the same time. Devine intervention?
