You would not have time to apply automotive paints with a brush or roller. Once you mix the paint you have X amount of minutes to get it on the vehicle. It would also cost you a fortune to brush or roller apply automitive paints as you would probably have to buy a lot of extra paint as it would take more then spraying. I am sure there are some chemical/scientific reasons why it wont work either. It would probably cost you at least 1000$ or more to buy the automotive primers and paint to do it the right way.
I would say your cheapest option that would hold up being outside would be implement paint from the farm store. Get a cheap paint gun and spray it on.
4500$ would get you a good cheap paint job and not a trailer queen.
