Have you looked inside the gas tank? Could be lots of crud getting sucked in. A couple of years ago I put gas into my truck from what turned out to be a dirty gas can. Somehow crud got past the filter and lodged in the jets of the carb. It would run, but was gutless. Finally took the carb apart and found 2 jets plugged about 1/2 way, so gas would go through but not enough. Maybe you have a similar problem.
