Can't Mate-up WDX Drive Shaft to NP 435

The u-joint on my WDX drive shaft is larger than the 435 yoke so I thought I would just go find a bigger yoke which I did. Unfortunately the splines are more coarse on the salvage 435 yoke and I don't want to tear down my transmission and replace the output shaft (or whatever it's called). Being a business major and a logical person, I'm now looking for a smaller u-joint for the WDX shaft. Can I do this and if so where can I buy one? Why does this have to be so complicated?
