If it's electrical, likely it is brushes. Even the commutator can be replaced or rebuilt. Don't toss it until you have exhausted other sources. The new ones will not be the same. Guaranteed. I have 3 old skil saws from the 50s and have bought my 2 sons at least 5 each in the last 10 years.
