if the plug is not tightened to the correct tension then the heat path will be somewhat restricted and the plug will run hotter will also happen if the plug seat in the head is not clean and dirt/debris could block the heat path
Heat range is a function of the shape of the plug and the distance heat must travel from
the center electrode of the plug to reach the cylinder head
