A snatch block's primary function is to double the "pull" of the winch (while cutting the line speed in half). Being an old logger, we also used them to re-direct the angle of pull. When rigged up in a tree, we could raise a log or a load or pull an engine. Overall, a very handy addition to any winch kit. Throw in a couple of slings and shackles and you're "good to go".
