'73's only came in pistol rounds (.32-20, .38-40, .44-40, etc.) because the linkage was relatively weak, the '76 was made in .45-60 but still somewhat puny. It took the '86 model to come up with an action sufficient to handle the .45-70 and other more powerful rounds. I do feel old Winchesters and old Power Wagons have something in common - mostly made of steel, reliable and hell for stout.
